Tarot Insights on Letting Go, Creating, and Living in Balance
This morning I pulled cards for myself, seeking clarity. The spread was powerful and honest—exactly what I needed, though not what my impatient self necessarily wanted.
I began with the 6 of Swords and the 5 of Swords. These two together spoke of transition, of moving away from old waters and old identities, but not without loss. Growth isn’t tidy. Sometimes moving forward means leaving behind relationships, patterns, or pieces of yourself that once felt essential. For me, this landed deeply. With the work I’ve been doing publicly, especially around politics and advocacy, I know I’ve lost some connections. And yet, the cards remind me that this loss isn’t for nothing—it’s clearing space for what’s to come.
Then came the Magician paired with the Ace of Wands. This is the fire, the spark, the reminder that I already have the tools, the vision, and the ability to create. It’s easy to feel frustrated when growth doesn’t happen overnight—when the fruits of my labor aren’t visible yet. But just like seeds buried in the soil, transformation happens in the unseen. These cards whispered: be patient, the spark is alive within you, and your time is unfolding.
Finally, I drew the 10 of Pentacles with Temperance. This was the anchor I didn’t even realize I was looking for. Together they remind me that my family and my foundation are not separate from my goals—they are the soil from which everything grows. I can’t just hustle and expect to thrive. Balance matters. Presence matters. Wealth is more than money—it’s legacy, connection, and the richness of our life right now.
Why Contentment Feels So Hard
Even with all of this wisdom laid out in front of me, it is so hard to sit in contentment. To trust that things are okay in this very moment, even with uncertainty swirling around. Part of me is conditioned by hustle culture, and survival instinct wants to brace, to worry, to keep pushing.
Here’s why:
Biology: Our brains are wired with a negativity bias. They scan for what could go wrong because, evolutionarily, anticipating danger kept humans alive. Contentment can feel unfamiliar—even unsafe—because the nervous system is used to preparing for the worst.
History & Experience: If you’ve lived through times of instability—financial stress, relationship strain, health challenges—your body remembers. Safety feels temporary, so when things are “okay,” part of you waits for the rug to be pulled out.
Cultural Conditioning: We live in a society that glorifies hustle, productivity, and growth at all costs. Sitting still, being content, or simply saying “we’re okay” can feel lazy or unproductive. But presence is not laziness—it’s the foundation for balance and sustainability.
Spiritual Growth: For seekers like us, stillness can sometimes feel like stagnation. There’s always another level of healing, another layer to peel back, another vision to manifest. But growth doesn’t always look like movement—sometimes it’s the quiet expansion happening beneath the surface.
The Thread That Ties It Together
The cards reminded me of something essential:
Transition always comes with letting go.
Creation begins with trust in what I already carry.
Balance is the key to building a legacy that lasts.
So today, I am choosing to practice contentment—not as complacency, but as presence. Trusting that the seeds I’ve planted are alive. Trusting that abundance doesn’t just live in the future, it lives here, now.

Reader Reflection
If this message resonates with you, I invite you to pause and reflect:
Journaling Prompts
What am I currently transitioning away from?
Where in my life do I already have the tools I need, but feel impatient for results?
How can I create more balance between my drive to succeed and my need for presence and connection?
What does “abundance in the now” look like for me today?
A Mini Spread for You
What do I need to release from the past to move forward?
What inner tool or gift can I lean on right now?
Where do I need to bring balance into my life?
What abundance is already present that I may be overlooking?
Pull a card (or just reflect on the question) for each one, and let the answers remind you that you’re not behind, you’re right on time.
