Asking Our Loved Ones For Signs
As a human collective we share similar experiences throughout our lifetimes. One experience we all have in common is that of losing a loved one. We have all felt the pain in our hearts, the lump in our throats, and the sadness and grief in our chests when a loved one has crossed over. We have all cried tears that have felt like they would never end. This is something we all can recognize in one another; the pain and suffering that can come with death.
I believe the pain is intensified or prolonged due to the fact that we as a culture don’t embrace the beauty of death and dying. We buy products that keep us young forever and take supplements that we think will give us healthy, strong bodies forever. It’s because we are so attached to this life, to this experience just like when we attach to wanting our families to have such a fun time on vacation that we make it miserable for everyone (check out my blog on what a Disney trip taught me about traveling) we do the same thing with life! We cling so tightly to this experience, to this life that we end up making it painful. 38 Special put it perfectly with their song “Hold on loosely”
“Just hold on loosely
But don't let go
If you cling to tightly
You're gonna lose control’
We tattoo eyebrows on our faces as we notice our natural ones thinning, and we get injections into the muscles under the skin to freeze away wrinkles, we deprive ourselves of delicate treats or fatty meals because we want to have slender bodies, and we get extensions to make our hair longer, lashes longer all while laser removing hair from other parts of our body where it actually serves a purpose. We try so hard to be young forever and I believe this is due (perhaps subconsciously) to the fear of aging and death. We are also way too egotistical sometimes when it comes to our bodies. We forget that these beautiful perfect vehicles no matter what they look like drive us through this human experience. While many people may do these cosmetic procedures to defy death, it has also been a human practice and perhaps even an animalistic tendency (some male species of birds will groom themselves and spend a lot of time on their appearance) to adorn oneself and accentuate what someone feels good about. If intention of self-care can be weaved into these practices and with mindfulness that these procedures are to feel good in the moment and won’t slow down time, they may offer a sense of recharging.
Think of it as in each lifetime you are given a new vehicle to use and the goal is that at the end of that lifetime, to return the vehicle with as little dents and scratches as possible. This is why it’s important that we care for our bodies naturally, exercise, eat right, drink water and rest. And of course take care of our minds as there is a body-mind connection.
If we can think of it in the way that we have multiple lives, we have had multiple past lives and will continue to have more, we are similar to nature- think of the flowers that go from seeds, to sprouts, to flowers, and then die again in the fall and go dormant through the winter with a rebirth in the spring. If you knew in the next lifetime you would get a new body, would you be so attached to the one that you have now?
Death is never really death but just the start of the rebirth process all over again, you need to age, and die, to be reborn again.
Now, that does NOT mean watching our loved ones slowly die or having someone suddenly taken away from us does not make the experience any LESS painful, but rather we can push through that pain with love and light knowing our loved ones are still and will always be with us as energy cannot be created or destroyed, it simply changes form.
This to me is so much more comforting and helps all energy forms so much more when we embrace it. Because part of our reasons for being here is to have a human experience and you are in control of that experience through free will. The question then is, ‘how are you enjoying your human experience? How can you enjoy it more?’
As a medium for the other side, I feel it when our crossed loved ones “see” their loved ones suffering and the way they light up when they see us smile or reminisce and laugh about them. Your loved ones who have passed never want to see you suffer. They want you to live for them. The best thing we can do is to live life for them.
Asking Our Loved Ones for Signs:
Early on in my journey I had asked my Spirit team to show me signs through hearts. I see hearts every single day, multiple times a day. I see them in clouds, on food, in the laundry, trash, all around me I see hearts.
I also get specific signs from loved ones; for example, one family member who is also a Spirit Guide to me communicates to me through music, specifically Tom Petty. Below is a photo taken one morning where I was very emotional about my stance on something. I got in the car and this was a song that came on.
My grandfather communicates to me through quarters and flickery lights. Just the other day I opened up my dryer and a quarter came tumbling out, I smiled and said “Hi Opa!”
Numbers are also a very popular way that our Spirit or Angel team communicates with us. If you see a repeating sequence such as 555 or 222 or when you look at the clock it’s always 12:34- these are also signs from our Spirit Teams.
So, I invite you to do the following experiment. Take a few moments to sit quietly and think of a loved one or your Spirit Team, whoever they may be!. Sit with a tall spine, the crown of the head is lifting towards the ceiling and the tailbone roots down through the earth. Close your eyes and take 3 long deep inhales and exhales. As you think about your loved one, let the images play through your head like a movie, experiencing all the emotions that come up. Try not to attach to one thing, just let it all flash in front of your eyes, be the observer of whatever comes up. There is no wrong way to do this, whatever you experience is perfect and each time you do this, you will most likely experience something new or different.
Then ask your loved one for a sign, you can ask for something specific too. For example, ask for an eagle and then keep your eyes open for the word eagle, actual eagles, people talking about eagles, eagles on TV, etc.
You may just get signs when you least expect it!
My logical brain will tell me this is similar to when you buy a new car, it seems like all you see around you is that same make and model car. What we put out with our minds, comes back to us. Because energy, spirits, and past lives have little research and have yet to be widely proven and accepted, could this just be our brains doing what they do? Maybe, but isn’t it more comforting to see the world through the lens of magic and wonder? We are a burning rock flying through time and space, spinning at ridiculous speeds living in a perfect planet to sustain life…can’t anything be possible?
Remember, part of your human experience is to enjoy it- which way allows you to enjoy your experience most?
So ask those loved ones for a sign and see what happens and how you feel!
